Group Samba Class in Rio

  • Everyday at 3pm and 7pm
  • Copacabana
  • USD 25 or R$100 reais
  • 1 Hour Class

Imagine your first night in Rio ending with you actually dancing samba, not just watching it from the sidewalk. That's what our samba classes in Rio de Janeiro are built for: one hour with a local instructor, in a small group, no partner and no experience needed. Rio Samba Dancer has been teaching visitors to move like a carioca since 2009, in our own studio a few steps from Copacabana beach.

You don't need rhythm you were born with. You need someone patient enough to break it down, and a room full of other travelers who are just as new to this as you are. That's the whole idea.

Why Take a Samba Class in Rio de Janeiro?

Most visitors watch samba from a distance: a show, a parade, a video. A class flips that. You learn the steps a carioca actually uses on a Friday night, not a stage routine. It works for solo travelers, couples, and small groups who want one real local memory instead of another photo stop.

What's Included

  • One hour of guided group instruction — instructors teach in English, Spanish, and Portuguese
  • A small group setting, so you're not lost in a crowd of fifty
  • All levels welcome, including complete beginners
  • A relaxed, air-conditioned studio in Copacabana
  • $25 per person

What's Not Included

  • Transport to and from the studio
  • Food or drinks

Why Choose Rio Samba Dancer

We've been doing this since 2009, long enough to know that the biggest fear isn't the dance. It's feeling awkward in front of strangers. Our instructors teach in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, keep groups small on purpose, and build the class around people who've genuinely never danced before. Solo travelers, couples, families, and even corporate groups come through our studio every week for exactly that reason.

  • Local instructors who teach in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, every class
  • Small groups, real attention instead of a packed room
  • Studio located in Copacabana, easy to reach from most hotels
  • No dance partner or experience required

Where You'll Find Us in Rio de Janeiro

Our studio is in Copacabana, at Av. Nossa Senhora de Copacabana, 807 (Room 603, Ed. Coronado), walking distance from most Copacabana and Ipanema hotels. For larger groups, we can also arrange a venue closer to where you're staying. If you're in Leblon, Botafogo, or Lapa, message us on WhatsApp and we'll confirm the easiest option for your group.

Ready for More? Pair It With Our Rio Night Tour

One hour is enough to learn the steps — the real fun is using them on an actual dance floor. Our Rio Night Tour builds on this class: a guided night out with live samba, a real samba club, and a local guide watching out for you the whole time, so you're never wondering where it's safe to go. A lot of our guests book both in the same trip — the class to learn, the night tour to actually go out and use it.
